3. Cut artificial sugars such as High Fructose Corn Syrup from your diet. HFCS’s structure more likely resembles glucose (table sugar) than fructose (simple sugar in fruits). Consuming too much glucose and too many artificial sugars can be a real problem and it can lead not only to weight gain but also to metabolic diseases such Type II diabetes. Also your body has a hard time breaking down these artificial sugars so they are more likely to get store as fat deposits.

4. Eat more protein. Lean protein that is. I do not fully agree with the Atkins Diet (bacon and sausage are not good for you) but consuming a protein rich diet versus a carbohydrate rich diet helps build lean muscle mass and help decrease cravings. Some of my favorite sources are: fish, beans, soy, milk and eggs.

5. Eat good more fruits, the good sugar. Carbohydrates power your life, they are the most efficient form of biofuel available for human consumption. Just because some sugars are bad it does not mean that they all are. Vegetables, fruits and whole grains are good sources of sugar fuel. Do not be afraid of pineapples and berries, they will help you stay lean by giving you energy and providing vitamins, enzymes, minerals and antioxidants that will keep your body running on a higher gear.

6. Exercise, move, play. The human body is an organic machine and it needs movement in order to function properly. Physical activity produces benefits beyond fat loss and lean muscle building, it also helps regulate brain chemistry so we think clearer and have better hold of our emotions. Exercise does not need to be boring or monotonous, there are so many choices. Just remember that a smart fitness program works on developing strength, conditioning, mobility and flexibility. The first two will help you lose weight and build muscle, the last two will help you improve posture and move more efficiently. Have fun, live to play and play to live.

7. Get enough sleep. Sleep is crucial for optimal metabolic function. If you eat well, exercise properly but do not get the right amount and quality of sleep your body will not function as well as it can. In 2007 the yearly production of Bio ethanol in USA was around 5.6 billion gallons per year. The additional capacity of 6.2 billion gallons per years is under the construction. Once this is built, the USA will have total production of 11.8 billion gallons of ethanol per year.

The price to produce bio ethanol highly depends on the cost of corn and cost of natural gas. For example, if corn cost around $2 a bushel, it would cost between $1 and $1.20 to make a gallon of bio ethanol. The downside point is that the ethanol has only two thirds of the energy in comparison to gasoline.

Wind energy
Wind Energy – is one of the most popular renewable energies. In last couple of years the number of wind farms has increase by 50% each year. There are tens of new off shore or on shore wind farms projects waiting for an approval to be built.

In the European Union, the country with the biggest number of wind farms is Germany, second is Spain and third Denmark. UK currently has around 186 (2008) wind farms with 7 large off shore farms and a few other farms under construction.

Using the oil as it is can be clean and effective. Not to mention cheap also. But you have to make modifications to the diesel engine so that it is optimized for vegetable oil. You can find pre-modified diesel engines where you can use petro diesel, biodiesel and pure vegetable oil in any combination. There are engines with separate fuel tanks and a switch, you fill one tank with vegetable oil and the other tank with original petroleum diesel. Then you just turn on the engine using the tank with the original petroleum diesel and after a while you switch to the tank with the vegetable oil.

Mixing the oil with other supplements is your second option. Because vegetable oil is thick you mix it with a different type of fuel to make it thinner so that it flows easily into the combustion chamber of your diesel engine. Remember that using petroleum or kerosene to mix the vegetable oil, is not a clean option though. You can make various mixes (for example 20% vegetable oil and 80% of another diesel fuel). Some claim that if you use such a mix you have to preheat the engine, others just start the engine and go without preheating.

Your final option (and by far the best, in my opinion) is to convert the vegetable oil into biodiesel. Because biodiesel works in any diesel engine without the need to make any conversion or modifications to the fuel system or the engine itself. Just fill and go. Biodiesel is a much safer, clean, ready to use fuel that’s well tested. This option unlike the other two is backed by thousands of short-term and long-term research and tests by scientists around the world.

With residential natural gas to electricity converters, the genie may finally have come out of the lamp. Since in effect hydrogen atoms (the most common element in gases and the first element on the periodic table) are a combination of one proton (positive charge), one electron (negative charge), and a neutron (no charge), it is not such a stretch to imagine that through a process not requiring combustion that a stream of electrons (commonly referred to as electricity) can be produced. Many people chose to refer to these products as natural gas inverters not only because the final process in converting natural gas to electricity involves inverting the direct current produced to a usable alternating current (hence, inverting the direct current to alternating current). Also, many people have already become familiar with the inverter used in conjunction with photovoltaic panels so the terminology “natural gas inverter” makes sense with the already recognizable “solar inverter.”

Ironically, so much recent publicity has centered around the commercial installations of these gas to electricity converters that the residential portion has been almost completely overlooked. With companies like Wal-mart, eBay, and others having installed these units, it is easy to understand why those installations would hog all of the attention. In reality, it is still a little known fact thousands of similar smaller units have been installed in homes across the country.

Mechanical Aeration: It is observed that in the diffused air system, only a small per cent of oxygen, not more than ten is actually utilized in the oxidation process used as treatment for sewage, the rest, about ninety per cent, is simply required to bring about the required agitation of the sewage sludge mixture. Two types of sewage aeration systems are commonly employed:

(1) Paddle mechanisms
(2) Spray mechanisms

Paddle Mechanisms: Paddle mechanisms circulate the sewage in the wastewater aeration tank. The latter are made up of long inter-connected channels such that the sewage has to travel a long distance. The direction of flow being guided by paddle wheels so arranged, as to revolve either about horizontal shafts crossing the channels midway of their lengths. Paddle wheels are placed in a staggered fashion or about vertical shafts partially submerged at the end of each pair of channels in series. Baffles are used to cause overturning motion. In this mechanism, a part of the sewage is also recirculated to the influent end in the first arrangement. Therefore, this is a better method of treatment for sewage.

The channels containing the paddle mechanisms may be about 1.2 m deep x 1.8 m wide with paddle wheels dipping 20 to 30 cm into the sewage and revolving at 0.6 to 0.9 m /sec. Detention periods for complete aeration are somewhat longish (15 hours or even more) for the aeration of sewage.

Spray Mechanisms: In spray mechanisms, sewage is drawn to the surface and then thrown in the form of thin sheets or films on the surface. The film formation aids in the absorption of oxygen by exposing large surface of sewage to the atmosphere. The simplex system is a well-known example of this type of treatment for sewage. This consists of a single square hopper-bottomed tank or a rectangular tank with a series of square hopper-bottomed units, through which sewage flows and which may or may not be equipped with baffles or dividing walls.

Each unit has a central uptake tube, which is widened out at the bottom and has an inverted cone, suspended centrally at top with reference to the uptake tube and driven by a mechanism. The cone has vanes and during its revolutions, sucks up sewage from the bottom and sprays it at the top, thereby setting up a circular motion in the sewage. The cone spins at 60 rpm and contents are turned once in every 20 minutes. Units are 3 to 6 m deep and 1.5 to 2 times as wide. The detention period is 8 hours or more to complete the process of aeration treatment for sewage. The spray aeration is well suited for small plants because operation and maintenance are simple.

Combination System: In this, as the very name implies, the two actions viz. diffusion and the mechanical aeration are combined in one unit. The well-known type is the Dorrco aerator. This consists of a tank, 3 to 4.5 m deep and of equal width. It has two rows of diffusers fixed at the bottom and along one side of the tank. A submerged paddle wheel is at the center of the tank and mounted on a horizontal shaft, that rotates 10 to 12 rpm in a direction opposite to that of the rising air bubbles. Detention period is 2 to 3 hours.

The main advantage of this system is the increase in the diffusion action – 2 to 3 times as much oxygen as in diffused air tanks is absorbed, and consequently there is reduction in the supply of compressed air.
